Though born on Earth, Lee Tasker's parents were offworlders from a distant colony, whose inhabitants had long ago developed an extended lifespan. Because of this, Lee aged at a rate approximately 1/3 of the normal human rate. He was raised to the age of 18 in his parents' tradition, a leisurely childhood during which he learned the basic skills of his people, including numerous languages. However, his parents were concerned for his social development, so at that age, the equivalent of a norm human six year old, he was enrolled in a local school.
This worked out well for young Lee the first few years. However, by the 4th grade it was clear to the other studens that he was different from them. They had learned to accept non-humans, but a strange human was still an easy target. Lee passed through the grades easily, but not happily. By the apparent age of 12, he had a degee, few friends, and felt he had no place in the world. By Earth law, he was legally an adult and, much to his parents' dismay, he left Earth to find his way in the universe.
Lee fell in with a salvage operation on the outer rim, eventually. The people there accepted him, and he because something of a mascot for the company, as well as a useful crew member. His small size allowed him to get into places noone else could, and his natural aptitude with machines allowed him to work with small circuitry and mechanisms with greater ease than the others.
As time went on, Lee expanded his education, both through practical experience and distance learning. He began collecting interesting bits and pieces as part of his pay during salvage operations, which eventually led to his construction of the Nephilim over the course of decades.
Lee's physiology is basically human, aside from his slow rate of aging. This difference has the unfortunate side effect of leaving him slow to heal from injuries, due to a slower rate of cell regeneration. This can be compensated for by drugs, however.
Despite early setbacks, Lee has turned out to be suprisingly well adjusted and deals well with other people, though his overdeveloped sense of the theatrical often puts people off on first meeting him. He uses this talent to his advantage though, whether it be for intimidation or to make people underestimate the keen mind under his playful facade.
